Our Kuopio Festival Grant application form 2024
Applying Our Kuopio production grant
Production grant will be granted for the costs of organising communal, accessible, intoxicant-free events open to all in Kuopio during Our Kuopio Festival (10.-25.8.2024). The money granted can be used, for example, for material, marketing and commission costs. In 2024, events may also take place outside the actual festival period.
The grant must be applied for well in advance of the event. Applications must be submitted no later than two (2) weeks before the event takes place. Applications can be submitted at any time and will be processed in the order in which they are submitted. Production grant is distributed in the amount of 500-10,000 €/event, depending on the nature and scope of the event. Support decisions are made by the City of Kuopio's civic engagement services.
The application for Our Kuopio festival period (10.-25.8.) ends 17.6.2024. Support is also granted for events that take place at another time (Our Kuopio pop-up, continuous application until 1.11.2024).
Who can apply?
Individuals, working groups, independent producers, artists, and associations can apply for the grant. When the applicant is an unregistered working group, the application is made in the name of a representative of the working group. Other members of the group should be named in the application, and they are jointly responsible for the grant. Also companies can apply for the grant.
Professionals: please present 2-5 references of your previous work at "Additional information". You can also add a link to your online portfolio or CV.
You can submit a production grant application for a single event or for a series of events. If you apply for funding for a series of events, only fill in one application for the whole series. Grants are not awarded separately for parts of a series of events. Additional information may be requested for the application.
Payment
The grant is paid retrospectively based on a report submitted by the recipient listing costs up to the amount awarded. The recipient must keep all receipts for one year from the payment of the grant for possible spot checks. The report must be submitted within one month of the event.
The statement of accounts / report can be found here.
What will the grant not be awarded for?
The grant will not be awarded for events or projects that generate profits or whose main objective is business-related. The grant will not be awarded for events that are part of an association or other actor’s regular operation. As a rule, grants are not awarded to exhibitions. Production grants will not be awarded for catering, equipment purchases, recordings, or publications. The production grant is not awarded if the event has received any other support or assistance from the city.
Responsibility
When an operator is granted Production Grant, they accept their responsibility to independently ensure that the permit matters are in order for the event. The operator applies for permission from the landowner to use the event area, submits an incident notification to the Police if necessary, and to the Rescue Department Rescue Plans (events with more than 200 visitors), and takes care of Teosto notifications and related fees. The working groups themselves are responsible for reporting fees to the tax authorities. One person of the working groups is paid production support and pays the necessary fees to the other members of the working group. The operator takes out liability insurance for its event as needed.
